News Update the Month of August 2020

Major Achievements of SOLAR project:

In the month of August-2020, 806 members of Peoples Organization access to the support-services of the Local Government Institutions for their livelihood purposes. 795 landless families got different type of support services such as (The support services are 795 families got) VGF; 01 family got Old allowance; 03 family got Disable allowance; 01family got Pregnancy Mother Allowance; 02 families got solar panel and 04 families got TW. In this month 1172 families are involved in Family Farming, preparing organic fertilizer from sweeping substance and seed preservation by the women members. In this month, 346 families got access to the support services from Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, local Public Health & Engineering, Family Planning and Health departments. On the other hand 22 families are hired land and cultivating by the different Peoples Organization’s (PO’s) members. On this month and 20 families were practicing organic Agriculture, HIP and Vermi compost. In this month 28 PO’s members have started Fish Culture in Mini pond and 1413 families have involved with/in tree plantation. And 05 families have submitted application for khas land, amounting of 0.25 acres.

CDA and HTI Partnership Health Project:

A is implementing Health project in Rohingya Camps & Host Communities in Ukhiya Upazila under Cox’s bazar district through supported by HumaniTerra International (HTI), France. CDA and HTI have opened a surgical & other health facilities in Goyal Mara, Ukhiya, Cox’s bazar for providing high quality 24/7 emergency obstetrical and general surgical services, mentored by visiting international surgeons from France. 

Resources: Gynecologist- 02, Asst. Surgeon -02, Pediatrician / Clinic Manager- 01, Anesthesiologists – 02, Lab. Tech- 01, OT Nurses- 03, Lab. Technologist-01 Midwives- 03, Community Mobilizer- 02

Inclusion Criteria: Stabilization of obstetric emergencies, Elective surgery. Provide Acute Obstetric and Gynecological emergencies (Emergency Caesarian section, extra uterine pregnancy, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia APH, PPH, Hysterectomy).

Exclusion Criteria:   Any complicated obstetric / gynecological emergencies which cannot be managed at field level will be referred after initial stabilization.

Fortnightly & Monthly Staff Meeting Conducted:

CDA’s Fortnightly & Monthly staff coordination meeting for the month of August held on 16.08.2020 & 31.08.2020 at CDA’s conference room of JSI Center, Mukundopur, Kaharol, Dinajpur. Regional coordinator from six regions and the entitled staff from program office were present in the meeting. Mr. TapanKanti Dey, Deputy Director of CDA chaired the meeting. Monthly target and achievement of six regions were presented through multi-media. The chairperson of the meeting advised the Regional coordinators if there is any deviation it should be achieved before the next fortnightly/ monthly meeting. And the same month total 12 staff coordination meeting also arranged in the CDA’s six regions level.

Program Operation Cell (POC) Meeting Held:

During the month 04 no of meetings held in the conference room of CDA dated on 01.08.2020; 8.08.2020; 22.08.2020 and 29.08.2020. In this meeting all the POC members (all manager of CDA) were present and discussed about the planned activities of the program. The meetings were chaired by Mr. Shah-I-Mobin Jinnah, Executive Director of CDA. And the all POC member (all managers or sectorial head) attended in the meeting.

Attended online Meeting:

For the Corona virus pandemic situation the Executive Director of CDA and Deputy Director of CDA attend the CAMPE, ALRD, ANGOC, PLANET and Fair Finance Asia webinar in this month.

 Publication of CDA:

In this month, CDA published 20000 copies of JONOCHESTA and 1000 copies of CDA bulletin focusing on People’s Land Rights, Sustainable Agriculture and experiences of Land Rights Movement within the People’s Organization (POs), facilitated by CDA. And 7000 leaflet and 1000 copies poster published for the International indigenous Day observed with a view to develop an effective communication material highlighting evidence based case studies from the field level by their own efforts for advocacy materials.

 National Mourn Day Observed:

45th death anniversary of the Father of Nation Banga Bandhu Shaik Muzibur Rahman was observed and paid tribute to the assassinated members of the family in 15.08.2020 in the office premises of CDA. A discussion meeting was held upon the political career and dedication of his life for Bangladesh. All staff of CDA participated in the discussion and delivered valuable information about his livelong political career. We salute him and all staff are pay their deeply respect by one minute silence.

Legal aid support:

During the month 03no’s Peoples Organizations have received legal aid support from CDA for their land rights movement to ensure the access to the Public land (khas land) legally.

International indigenous day observed:

Besides on 9th August-2020; International indigenous Day observed in 11 upo-zillas of CDA’s working area. On this occasion a huge no of man and woman members from different POs were participated in the human chain (rally) and discussion meeting by following Covid 19 health policy. After human chain (rally) and discussion meeting PO’s leaders submit a memorandum relating their demands to the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh through the respective Upo-Zilla Nirbahi Officer. Civil society members, Government officials are also invited and they took part and sharing in the discussion meeting.
